Zusammenfassung

Zu Beginn der Beschäftigung mit Metaphern assoziierte der Autor mit dem Begriff den bildhaften Vergleich der griechischen Mythologie, in der beispielsweise Hercules als Löwe beschrieben wurde, da er auch buchstäblich den Nemeischen Löwen erschlagen haben soll und als Zeichen seiner Stärke auch das Löwenfell trug. Dabei wird die Stärke von Hercules mit der Stärke des Löwens verglichen und ins Verhältnis gesetzt („Hercules ist stark wie ein Löwe“). Analogien dieser Art fanden sich zur Genüge in der römischen und griechischen Mythologie und wurden zu einem großen Teil als Metaphern in die Alltagssprache übernommen.
