Zusammenfassung
Klimakonferenzen sind seit jeher ein zentraler Mobilisierungspunkt für die Klimabewegung und auch die Geschichte von Fridays for Future (FfF), die vor allem durch nationale Proteste bekannt geworden sind, ist eng mit der Conference of the Parties (COP) verzahnt. Der vorliegende Feldbericht zeichnet auf Basis einer globalen Event-Ethnographie auf der COP26 die spezifische Rolle von FfF im Kontext der Breite der Klimabewegung nach. Es zeigt sich, dass FfF medienwirksame und symbolträchtige Aktionsformen innerhalb und außerhalb der Konferenzhallen nutzt und damit versucht, marginalisierte Akteur:innen nach vorne zu stellen. Zwar vermieden die Aktivist:innen die Teilnahme an offiziellen Events wie Panels, dennoch distanzierte sich die Bewegung nicht vollends von der internationalen Klimapolitik. Kritik richtet sich insbesondere gegenüber empfundenen leeren Versprechungen und Greenwashing. Medienlogik und die Organisation der Konferenz, aber auch die eigene Positionierung stellen indes Hindernisse für FfF dar, eine kommunikative Umformung hin zu einem Klimagerechtigkeits-Narrativ vollends zu vollziehen. Es zeigen sich allgemeine Dilemmata für Bewegungsakteur:innen, wenn diese versuchen, die Klimakonferenzen für eine Gegen-Öffentlichkeit und die Darstellung eigener Visionen zu nutzen.
