Der Artikel ordnet Joe Bidens erste Amtszeit in die politische, gesellschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Entwicklung in den USA ein und kontrastiert die unterschiedlichen politischen Ansätze der Administrationen Biden und Trump. Die jüngsten politischen Entwicklungen werden im Kontext der multiplen sozialen, ökonomischen und politischen Probleme in den USA diskutiert und auch die Wirkungen innenpolitischer Probleme auf die Außenpolitik und die Stellung der USA in der liberalen Weltordnung skizziert.
