Abstract
In the previous chapter, we presented a discourse-aware TS approach that splits and rephrases complex sentences within the semantic context in which they occur. An application area that may benefit greatly from context-preserving sentence splitting as a preprocessing step is the task of Open IE, whose goal is to obtain a shallow semantic representation of large amounts of texts in the form of predicate-argument structures (see Section 2.3).
