Zusammenfassung
Seit Mitte 2021 gehören digitale Nachweise zu COVID-19-Impfungen, -Genesungen sowie -Tests zu unserem Alltag. Mittels des in Europa verbreiteten digitalen COVID-Zertifikats sind jedoch Fälschungen möglich, Daten werden nur lokal auf Smartphones gespeichert und sind somit nicht zu Forschungszwecken verwendbar. Bei der Abfrage eines Impfnachweises könnten personenbezogene Daten systematisch erfasst werden, dem Betroffenen wäre ein von der Prüfung des Impfzertifikats abweichender Zweck nicht ersichtlich. Dieser Artikel zeigt mittels einer Technologiepotenzialanalyse, dass die Distributed Ledger Technologie (DLT) in der Lage ist, die genannten Herausforderungen zu adressieren. So könnten etwa Daten zu Impfungen und Tests mittels eines alternativen Systems in Echtzeit und anonymisiert verfügbar gemacht werden. Dennoch bringt die DLT im Vergleich zu etablierteren Technologien auch technologiespezifische Herausforderungen wie die Nicht-Löschbarkeit von Transaktionen mit sich.
