Abstract
The professional staging of racing series or motor sport events requires a structured interaction between motor sport or automobile associations, marketing companies, organizers and participating racing teams. The main roles and tasks involved in staging a racing series are discussed in this chapter. A selection of some of the major automobile and motorsport associations and their associated racing series is provided.

Homologation (French homologation “approval, admission; type testing”; from Ancient Greek óμoλoγεῖν homologein “to agree, to conform”; here in the sense of “to comply with the regulations”) = registration and approval of racing vehicles or also racing circuits by national and international motorsport authorities. Homologation is the formal prerequisite in many motorsport categories to be able to participate in competitions.

Steward = race observer or technical delegate, who controls controversial situations as well as the technical conformity of a racing vehicle and, if necessary, pronounces penalties.
