Zusammenfassung
Brasilien zählt zu den größten Wasserkraftproduzenten der Welt. Mit zwei der drei größten Wasserkraftwerke verfügt das Land über einen sehr hohen Anteil an regenerativer Energie am Energiemix (Tab. 1). Trotz des gesellschaftlichen Widerstands und den starken Kontroversen um die sozio-ökologischen Auswirkungen der Wasserkraft soll das umfangreiche hydroenergetische Potenzial Brasiliens weiter ausgebaut werden. Bei der Diversifizierung des Strommixes spielen aber auch die Bio- und Windenergie eine wichtige Rolle (vgl. Abb. 1).
