Zusammenfassung
Die Förderung und der Export von Erdöl bilden das wirtschaftliche Rückgrat des Königreichs Saudi-Arabien und Erdöl deckt zusammen mit Erdgas annährend 100 % des inländischen Energiebedarfs (vgl. Tab. 1). Trotz großer Potenziale und ausreichend Flächen werden erneuerbare Energien, mit Ausnahme weniger Solarprojekte, bislang kaum entwickelt. Jedoch wurden im Rahmen der Vision 2030 ehrgeizige Ausbauziele festgelegt (vgl. Abb. 1), die erahnen lassen, dass auch das Königreich des Erdöls irgendwann mit dem Ende des Ölzeitalters rechnet.
