Zusammenfassung
Ägypten ist in den letzten Jahrzehnten nicht nur als Exporteur von Mineralöl und Erdgas aufgetreten, sondern konnte auch seinen eigenen Energiebedarf überwiegend mit fossilen Rohstoffen decken (vgl. Tab. 1). Vor dem Hintergrund der wachsenden Energienachfrage und der Erschöpfung heimischer fossiler Ressourcen befindet sich Ägyptens Energiesektor derzeit jedoch in einem starken Transformationsprozess, an dessen Ende eine geringere Abhängigkeit von fossilen Energieträgern stehen soll. Dafür hat sich die Regierung ambitionierte energiepolitische Ziele gesteckt (vgl. Abb. 1). Nicht zuletzt soll in dem mit reichhaltigen Solar- und Windpotenzialen gesegneten Land der größte PV-Park der Welt entstehen.
