Zusammenfassung

In der empirischen Sozialforschung befasst man sich mit gesellschaftlichen Phänomenen. Es geht darum, wie soziale Akteure durch ihren gesellschaftlichen Kontext beeinflusst werden und wie die Gesellschaft durch das interdependente, individuelle Handeln ihrer Mitglieder geformt wird. Einerseits wirken also gesellschaftliche Strukturen und Institutionen auf die Deutungen und Handlungsweisen der Gesellschaftsmitglieder, andererseits ergeben sich gesellschaftliche Tatbestände letztlich immer aus dem Zusammenspiel der Handlungen von Individuen.
