Zusammenfassung
Es gibt viele Gründe, anzunehmen, dass Quantencomputer eines Tages klassischen Rechnern bei der Lösung von ausgewählten schwierigen Problemen überlegen sein werden. So gibt es beispielsweise theoretische Argumente für Vorteile bei der Primfaktorzerlegung, der Simulation von Quantensystemen oder im Kontext von Subroutinen des maschinellen Lernens. Diese benötigen jedoch fehlertolerante Quantencomputer, deren Hardwareanforderungen das derzeit Mögliche um Längen übersteigen. Wir widmen uns der wichtigen Frage, inwieweit Quantenalgorithmen bereits auf der in den kommenden Jahren verfügbaren, imperfekten Hardware für praktische Anwendungen einen Vorteil realisieren können und bieten einen Überblick über relevante Probleme, Ansätze und Begrifflichkeiten, welche bei realistischen Abschätzungen unumgänglich sind. Dies führt uns zu der Erkenntnis, dass man dem derzeitigen Hype mit Vorsicht begegnen sollte und ein nüchterner, von Grundlagenforschung geprägter Blick von großer Bedeutung ist.
