Abstract
This chapter summarizes the work related to filament winding, numerical modeling and experimental characterization of composite pressure vessels. The synergy of both numerical and experimental methods enabled detailed insights into the vessel’s mechanical reponse under internal pressure loading. While the establishment of the in situ characterization methodology permitted to explain certain phenomena related to mechanical response of composite pressure vessels, much remains open to be explored. In this context, this work can yield into three potential applications in future research.
