Zusammenfassung

Der Artikel bietet eine detaillierte Analyse über die Wiedereroberung urbaner Räume durch das Immobilienkapital in verschiedenen lateinamerikanischen Metropolen zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts. Er schlägt eine Typisierung von Verdrängungs- und Entscheidungsprozessen in urbanen und periurbanen Gebieten vor und analysiert diese am Beispiel von fünf Städten: Mexiko-Stadt, Buenos Aires, Río de Janeiro, Santiago de Chile und Quito.

Die Forschung für die in dem Artikel beschriebene Untersuchung wurde im Rahmen des Forschungsprojekts „CONTESTED CITIES: Contested Spatialities of Urban Neoliberalism“ durchgeführt, dass von der EU-Kommission finanziert wurde (Grant Agreement: FP7-PEOPLE-PIRSES-GA-2012-318944).

Da der Begriff oftmals ein Resultat kollektiver Selbstzuschreibung und Identifikation ist, gleichzeitig eine soziale, stadträumliche und politische Komponente besitzt und auch über Jahrzehnte umfangreiche soziologische Debatten in Lateinamerika geprägt hat, würde jeder Versuch der Übersetzung in das deutsche Sprach- und Referenzsystem der Komplexität des Begriffs nicht gerecht werden.

Desplazamiento wird jedoch nicht nur im Sinne von ‚Verdrängung‘ verwendet, sondern trägt auch die Bedeutung von ‚Verlagerung‘, ‚Bewegung‘ und ‚Verschiebung‘ in sich, wie in der von Blanco und Apaolaza entwickelten ‚Etymologie‘ hervorgehoben wird.
