Zusammenfassung
In Folge einer Erkrankung oder Verletzung des Gehirns können Handicaps in verschiedenen Modalitäten (z. B. Sehen, Motorik, Sprache, Kognition) entstehen, für die assistive Technologien hilfreiche Kompensationsmöglichkeiten anbieten. Gleichzeitig sind es gerade diese Handicaps, die für den Einsatz der Technologien auch eine relevante Barriere darstellen. Das Kapitel gibt eine Übersicht, welche Einflussfaktoren eine Rolle spielen, damit technologiebasierte Hilfsmittel über die Entwicklungsphase hinaus im Alltag neurologischer Patienten nachhaltig zu einer Verbesserung von Lebensqualität und Teilhabe führen. Dazu gehört eine unmittelbar spürbare Nützlichkeit, die Bedienfreundlichkeit und Leichtigkeit der Handhabung, sowie praktische Anwendbarkeit und individuelle Passgenauigkeit. Um die Patienten zu erreichen, erweist es sich als entscheidend, die behandelnden Therapeutinnen und Therapeuten frühzeitig im Entwicklungsprozess einer Technologie einzubeziehen und ihre Technologiekompetenz in Aus- und Weiterbildung zu verbessern.
