Abstract
Even if the job content fits competencies and personality well: It takes more to be successful. In recent years and decades, psychology and brain research are increasingly demystifying the conditions under which people can work motivated and optimally efficient. Which factors are pivotal for creativity, productivity and success? Emotions – both positive and negative – and social relationships play key roles. By nature, intrapersonal and interpersonal aspects are in the scope of psychological research and interventions. At the same time the outside has a substantial impact. Spaces in which people can work well and develop their potential embody these findings in the design of workplaces and environments, because office design is always also an expression of priorities, appreciation, culture and values – whether consciously or by chance.
