Zusammenfassung
Ranulph Glanvilles zunächst innerhalb einer Dissertation in der Fachdisziplin der Architektur ausgearbeitete und dann in den Aufsätzen des Buches Objekte weiterverfolgte Leitfrage lautet: Wie kann es sein, dass Beobachter, die allesamt unterschiedlich beobachten und unterschiedliches Wissen haben, zu der Vorstellung kommen, dass sie dieselbe Sache beobachten und sich so verhalten, als ob dies der Fall ist? Seine Antwort verweist auf die Zirkularität und Selbstreferentialität von Entitäten, genannt „Objekte“. Glanville entwickelte seine Theorie in der Auseinandersetzung mit W. Ross Ashbys Einführung in die Kybernetik, Gordon Pasks Konversationstheorie, Humberto R. Maturanas Theorie der Autopoiesis und Heinz von Foersters Kybernetik zweiter Ordnung.
