Abstract

Resilience at the level of organisations and economic regions has been discussed in many conceptual and empirical studies, however resilience of cooperation between two organisations is rarely explored. This contribution provides a multi-level framework for analysing resilience processes of inter-organisational cooperation by building on the resilience process phases of economic regions, organisations and networks. References to practical examples support the value of this perspective, while recommendations for future research indicate further potential in this research field.

Notes

  1. 1.

The terms cooperation and collaboration are treated as synonyms in this contribution. Consequently, both teamwork with different subtasks and parallel work on a common result are included using the two terms.

  2. 2.

In the following, the term ‘actor’ will be used as it is the most common term in the discourse on organisations.
