Abstract
Since the report To Err is Human of the Institute of Medicine in 2000 [88], computer-aided clinical decisions are considered to be essential for a significant improvement of patient safety. First diagnostic clinical decision support system (CDSS) were developed in the 1970’ with The Internist and MYCIN, and became more popular, widely accepted, and, today, clinically desired since computers are faster, user interfaces are more intuitive and systems provide high quality suggestions. When CDSSs support clinicians with the right information at the right time they have the potential to ”[...] change the way medicine has been taught and practiced” (Berner, 2009).
