Abstract
Although student employment is widespread in Germany, it has received rather less attention in German social research. The topic has been approached mainly descriptively (e.g. Middendorff et al. 2017) and often in the context of evaluation surveys conducted at a single university (e.g. Kreuter 2000; Sarcletti 2009; Auspurg and Hinz 2011a; Mertens 2013; Krings, Brodführer, and Landmann 2018). Yet, this is beginning to change, as data on tertiary students have become more readily available (e.g. Blossfeld, Roßbach, and von Maurice 2011) and as extracurricular activities of students have gained prominence in research (e.g. Lörz and Krawietz 2011).
