Abstract

Businesses thrive through the development of their knowledge resources. Besides knowledge external to the organisation, internal knowledge resources are of similar significance. In order to develop these resources, organisations invest in their relational capital through spatial mobility of their workforces. Chapter 5 summarises the main points of the preceding chapters and recapitulates the leading research interest, which focuses on the contribution of expatriates and their social networks on the transfer of knowledge on the intra-firm level.
