Der Abmahnung kam im Arbeitsrecht der Bundesrepublik Deutschland von Anfang an eine bedeutende Rolle zu. Erstmalig Erwähnung findet die Abmahnung im Rahmen der Rechtsprechung des Bundesarbeitsgerichtes (BAG) in einer Entscheidung vom 03.12.1954.
