In heutigen Diskussionen zum Thema Datenqualität wird häufig der Begriff der Informationsqualität synonym verwendet. Dies ist für die pragmatische Anwendung nicht von entscheidender Bedeutung, jedoch bestehen ein paar grundsätzliche, auch für das Verständnis der Datenqualität, wichtige Unterschiede. Aber auch die Autoren verwenden die Begriffe synonym. Die Abb. 5.1 stellt den Zusammenhang zwischen Daten und Information dar.
