Abstract
THIS chapter reviews the concepts, mathematical techniques and computer vision methods which constitute the background knowledge relevant for the thesis at hand. The chapter is organised into three sections, each of which follows an individual common thread. In Sec. 2.1, starting from an overview of the imaging models, we review Hadamard problem classification, basics of the theory of inverse problems and non-linear least squares.
