Identität, Herkunft wie auch Vorkriegskarriere des Ehepaars Ford sind für das Verständnis der Majdanek-Filme höchst relevant. Aleksander Ford (Abb. 7.1) selbst gibt in Dokumenten Łódź als Geburtsort und seine Nationalität als polnisch an, und als Bildungsweg: Studium der Kunstgeschichte in Warschau. Dies ist laut den Recherchen des Ford-Biografen M. Danielewicz jedoch nicht durch Dokumente belegbar, wie auch sein Geburtsjahr, das entweder als 24.11.1907 oder 1908 angegeben wird (Danielewicz 2019, S. 18).
