Zusammenfassung

In den 1960er Jahren entstanden, avancierte The Prisoner (19671968) mit seinen nur 17 Episoden zu einer Kritik und Mainstream schockenden, weil das traditionelle episodische Tele-Drama gekonnt unterlaufenden ‚Kult‘-Serie (vgl. Angelini 2010, S. 103). Als The Prisoner im September 1967 in Großbritannien erstmals ausgestrahlt wird, ist Patrick McGoohan den Zuschauer_innen bereits aus der Fernsehserie The Danger Man (19601968) vertraut. McGoohan spielt darin die Hauptfigur John Drake und beeindruckt mit seiner Schauspielkunst niemand geringeren als Orson Welles (McGuire 2014, S. 647).
