Abstract
Enhancing productivity has long been considered a crucial driver to foster competitive advantages (Tangen, 2005) and it is considered fundamental to management science and practice (Djellal & Gallouj, 2013). In the realm of services, Peter F. Drucker, a pioneer of modern management, foresaw in 1991: “The single greatest challenge facing managers in the developed countries of the world is to raise the productivity of knowledge and service workers. This challenge, which will dominate the management agenda for the next several decades, will ultimately determine the competitive performance of companies.
