Zusammenfassung
Mit der Kommunikation auf Anwendungsebene ist die netzunabhängige Kommunikation von mindestens zwei Anwendungsprozessen gemeint, welche von der Anwendungsschicht des ISO/OSI-Referenzmodells (siehe Abb. 13.1) umgesetzt wird. Die Adressierung von Elementen sowie die Ermöglichung verbindungsloser und verbindungsorientierter Kommunikation verschiedener Anwendungsinstanzen wird bereits durch die Protokolle der darunter liegenden Schichten sichergestellt, sodass diese als Dienst für die Anwendungsebene bereitstehen.
