Abstract
With increased knowledge of antecedents of mHealth use (including diabetes apps), processes behind mHealth adoption and use can be understood in greater detail. In this context, the term “antecedent” describes factors influencing mHealth adoption and use. While Lin (2011), Rai, Chen, Pye, and Baird (2013), and Deng (2013) use the term “determinants” in the context of mHealth adoption, others speak of “antecedents” of technology adoption and use (Agarwal & Prasad, 1998; M.-C. Hu, 2012; Odoom, Anning-Dorson, & Acheampong, 2017; Venkatesh & Davis, 1996; Venkatesh et al., 2003), to refer to similar types of influencing variables.
