Zusammenfassung

Das vorliegende Kapitel informiert über das Wesen und den Nutzen von Emotionen, über Theorien zur Entstehung sowie über Möglichkeiten der Messung von Emotionen. Nach einer Eingrenzung, was unter Emotionen aus wissenschaftlicher Perspektive zu verstehen ist, werden verschiedene Theorien zur Entstehung von Emotionen dargestellt. Dabei wird sowohl auf historische als auch auf aktuelle Theorien eingegangen und der Geltungsbereich sowie die Stärken und Schwächen werden hervorgehoben. Anschließend werden verschiedene Methoden der Emotionsmessung vorgestellt, die sich grob in die Bereiche „Beobachtung“, „Befragung“ und „biopsychologische Messmethoden“ einteilen lassen. Auch hier wird explizit auf Stärken und Schwächen der einzelnen Methoden eingegangen. Beispiele aus den Bereichen Musik- und Eventforschung runden das Kapitel ab.
