Abstract

Commitments for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the aim for greater independence from fossil fuels and the need to improve urban air quality require fundamental changes to power systems and transportation infrastructures. The main measures in this context include a transition from centralized power generation based on fossil fuels towards a decentralized system built on renewable energy sources (RES). This should further go along with a decarbonization of road transport based on electric propulsion technologies such as plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs).
