Abstract
Literature on DI and BMI have largely evolved separately. Although the concept of DI acknowledges a firm’s business model as the main source (or hinderer) of innovation, research lacks a holistic view on underlying business model concept bearing a disruptive potential. Being widely understood as a boundary spanning concept, many authors agree on a systems perspective providing a fertile ground for business model analyses based on interdependent activities centered and orchestrated by the organization. Still, the business model concept lacks cumulation considering the component-based view and the activity system perspective.
