Zusammenfassung
In den Neunzigern kam es mit der Serieneinführung der Beifahrer-Airbags zu einem signifikanten Anstieg von Verkehrsunfällen mit tödlich verunglückten Kindern infolge von Airbag-Zündungen auf der Beifahrerseite. Zwei Maßnahmen trugen später dazu bei, solche Unfälle zu vermeiden: Die Einführung fortschrittlicherer Steuerungssysteme für die Beifahrer- Airbags und vor allem in den USA durchgeführte Kampagnen, welche Eltern davon überzeugen sollten, ihr Kind nach Möglichkeit nicht auf dem Beifahrersitz zu platzieren.
