Zusammenfassung
Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, das politische Partizipationsverhalten in sieben westlichen Industrienationen zu untersuchen. Im Theorieteil (s. Kap. 2) wurde herausgearbeitet, welche Bedeutung politische Beteiligung für das demokratische System hat (Gabriel 1991). Aufgrund der partizipativen Revolution (Kaase 1982) in den Sechzigern kam es zu einer Ausweitung des Partizipationsrepertoires. Die Bürger nutzen im untersuchten Zeitraum nicht mehr nur die institutionell verankerten Formen politischer Beteiligung.
