Abstract
The intention of this book was to establish design patterns for more energy-efficient houses that would be suitable for the different regions of Serbia. Therefore, the work was divided into three main parts: first, a review of the traditional housing of Serbia (Chap. 2), then, an analysis of existing buildings and proposed effective refurbishment solutions (Chap. 3), and finally, to propose design patterns for future houses across different regions of the country (Chap. 4). For the design chapters, it was important to include not only the “architectural” issues that needed to be considered but also factors associated with the environment, economics, and social aspects. This chapter, the final, will review some of what has been presented in this book, as well as outline the sorts of design paths future homes in Serbia may follow to achieve greater energy efficiency.
