Zusammenfassung
Der vorliegende Aufsatz widmet sich dem Einfluss der Ereignisse des 11. September 2001 auf sicherheitsbezogene Wertorientierungen der deutschen Bevölkerung. Sicherheitsbezogene Wertorientierungen werden dabei deshalb untersucht, weil erwartet werden kann, dass die Bürgerinnen und Bürger auf die durch die Terroranschläge hervorgerufenen Verunsicherungen mit einem verstärkten Bedürfnis nach Sicherheit reagieren. Im Rahmen des Aufsatzes werden drei mögliche Effekte von 9/11 unterschieden: Ein kurzfristiger Periodeneffekt, ein langfristiger Struktureffekt sowie ein über die Prägung der nachwachsenden Generationen vermittelter Kohorteneffekt.
