Zusammenfassung

Der Front national (FN) zählt zu den erfolgreichsten rechtspopulistischen Parteien in Europa. Sein Aufstieg ist mit dem Abwehrkampf gegen die außereuropäische Immigration eng verknüpft. Der Beitrag beginnt mit einer Erfolgsbilanz der Partei, die sich fest im französischen Parteiensystem etablieren konnte und über viele Jahre hinweg Rechtspopulismen außerhalb Frankreichs inspirierte. Die Gründe für die Mobilisierungsstärke werden dabei ebenso gewürdigt wie jene Faktoren, die das Mobilisierungspotential begrenzen. Danach wird gezeigt, wie sich der FN des Immigrationsthemas bemächtigte und welchen Wandel der Umgang mit ihm nach dem Wechsel an der Parteispitze vom Vater zur Tochter Le Pen durchlaufen hat. Den Abschluss bildet eine Betrachtung der Erfolgsbedingungen des französischen Rechtspopulismus in seinem Verhältnis zur Immigrationsproblematik.
