Zusammenfassung
Dieses Kapitel erläutert die Geschichte des strategischen Managements anhand der Strategie-Safari nach Mintzberg et al. und unterscheidet zwischen einer Strategie als zielgerichteter Handlungsplan, einer Taktik als kurzfristiges Vorgehen sowie dem strategischen Managementprozess. Dieser Prozess wird als multidimensionales Vorgehen definiert, das als Nachdenken über die Zukunft der Organisation fungiert, in Verbindung mit der Erschaffung einer gemeinsamen Vision, konkreten Vorstellungen und Realisierungsprojekten. Die Erstellung von Strategien, von Zielsetzungen und von Plänen zu deren Umsetzung, ist dahin gehend für ein Unternehmen von Bedeutung, als dass ohne eine solche teleologische Vorarbeit das unternehmerische Handeln von vorne herein vom Zufall diktiert wird, dem es dann ausgeliefert ist. Durch den Prozess des strategischen Managements weiß ein Unternehmen dagegen, wohin es will, um zu vermeiden, dass es woanders herauskommt – nämlich da, wo es nicht unbedingt hinwollte.
