Zusammenfassung
Mit dem Beginn des Informationszeitalters und den aktuellen Big Data-Herausforderungen in Wirtschaft, Industrie, Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft ist die Nachfrage nach qualifiziert ausgebildeten Data Scientists rapide gestiegen. Viele Universitäten haben auf die Nachfrage inzwischen reagiert und bieten neue Studiengänge im Bereich Data Science an. In den nachfolgenden Ausführungen unterstützen wir diese Aktivitäten und motivieren Data Science als Kombination aus Statistik und Informatik. Exemplarisch stellen wir den neuen Elitestudiengang Data Science an der LMU München vor.1
