Urban Cooperation and Climate Governance

Abstract

Global climate change is one of the most severe challenges that humankind faces in the 21st century. Global levels of anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are increasing and the resulting warming of the planet threatens the livelihood of current and future generations. The developing countries and emerging economies of the Global South in particular are already feeling the consequences of climate change, such as rising sea levels, tropical storms, increased flooding and extended droughts.
