Zusammenfassung
Ein vierjähriges Kind sitzt vor einem verlockenden Marshmallow und muss sich entscheiden: Entweder verschlingt es ihn sofort oder es wartet damit noch einige Minuten und erhält dann zwei Marshmallows. Das ist die Situation im berühmten Marshmallow‐Test, der zuerst von Walter Mischel in den 60er und 70er Jahren durchgeführt wurde (Mischel et al. 1972; Mischel 2015). Wie wird sich das Kind verhalten? Wie steuern überhaupt Menschen ihr Verhalten, wie funktioniert die Unterdrückung von ursprünglichen Handlungsimpulsen? Dies ist ein spannendes, aber auch komplexes und schwieriges Themenfeld, das Wissenschaftler unterschiedlicher Fachrichtungen, von Biologen, Physikern, Psychologen, Ökonomen, Philosophen bis hin zu Robotikern, beschäftigt.
