Open Innovation in Embedded Systems

Abstract

This thesis was concerned with exploring the phenomenon of open innovation in the context of embedded systems. It turned out, that the difference to ‘conventional’ OI is the requirement to open the underlying ES itself. Therefore, open innovation in ES goes beyond a mere opening of innovation processes, but has significant influence on the technical systems for which open innovation should be allowed.
