Wie im vorangegangenen Kapitel dargestellt, unterscheidet sich die Europäisierungsforschung hinsichtlich ihres Erkenntnisinteresses von den klassischen Formen der Integrationsforschung. Der Mitgliedstaat rückt dabei in den Mittelpunkt des Interesses: „At its most basic […] Europeanization concerns a relationship between a cause located at the EU level and change at the domestic level […]” (Radaelli 2012: 3).
