Zusammenfassung
Big Data werden die amtliche Statistik in den kommenden Jahren verändern. Dies wird nahezu alle Bereiche der amtlichen Statistikerstellung umfassen. Künftig wird die Aufgabe des Amtsstatistikers insbesondere darin liegen, die richtigen, schon vorhandenen Datenbestände zu identifizieren und in adäquater Weise zu nutzen und weniger darin für eine Problemstellung neue Daten zu produzieren. Mit der Big Data Roadmap und dem Big Data Action Plan haben die Statistischen Ämter der Europäischen Union eine konkrete Umsetzungsstrategie zur Integration der neuen Datenbestände, die mit Big Data umschrieben werden, beschlossen. Dies ist ein erster wichtiger Schritt und wird auch national die Diskussion über die Verwendung von Big Data in amtlichen Statistiken innerhalb der Statistischen Ämter des Bundes und der Länder nachhaltig beeinflussen.
