Zusammenfassung
Der Terminus ›Musik‹ wird, ausgehend von seinem griechischen Ursprung (μουσική/mousikē), ins Lateinische übernommen (musica) und findet von dort aus Eingang in die meisten Sprachen indo-europäischen Ursprungs. Dementsprechend verfügen Definitionsversuche, die bis weit in die zweite Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts hinein ›Musik‹ vom perspektivischen Fluchtpunkt eines europäisch-›abendländischen‹ Musikverständnisses her konturieren, über eine gewisse, etymologisch fundierte Plausibilität.
