Abstract
Over the last decades, climate change has developed from a specialist topic for scientists, dedicated research centers, and non-governmental organizations, to a major item on the political agenda. After a long and heated debate, the international community has arrived at the consensus that anthropogenic climate change is a serious threat which requires a timely and forceful response.
