Zusammenfassung
Oft wird unterstellt, der IASB verfolge mit dem Fair Value Accounting ein bilanzorientiertes Konzept. Dies ist nicht unumstritten und die Konsequenzen für die GuV und das Sonstige Ergebnis sind erheblich. Wäre der Kapitalmarkt informationseffizient, wären aber Fragen der Bilanz- oder GuV-Orientierung, das Präsentationsformat, die Verlagerung von Informationen in den Anhang etc. weitgehend obsolet. Dass dem so ist, wird vielfach bezweifelt. Weitergehende Kritikpunkte bezüglich des Informationsnutzens von IFRS-Abschlüssen gründen darauf, dass die Berichtseinheit im Allgemeinen ein Konzern ist, während Verträge, Börsenkurse etc. sich auf Einzelunternehmen beziehen. Qualitätsverluste drohen zudem durch die diversen Möglichkeiten von Bilanzpolitik und den Einsatz sogenannter Pro-forma-Earnings, um Adressaten zu beeinflussen. Die empirischen Befunde zeigen aber auch, dass diese Freiheitsgrade dazu genutzt werden können, privates Wissen offen zu legen. Am Beispiel des Fair Value Accounting werden diese Aspekte abschließend abgearbeitet.
