Zusammenfassung
Die Medizin- und Gesundheitskommunikation gewinnt sowohl als Forschungsfeld als auch als Anwendungsfeld der journalistischen und medizinischen Praxis zunehmend an Relevanz. Die Darstellung von Gesundheitsinformationen und ihre massenmediale Verbreitung, Verarbeitung und Wirkung spielen dabei genauso eine Rolle, wie die interpersonale Kommunikation im Rahmen der Arzt-Patienten- Beziehung. Der vorliegende Beitrag liefert einen grundlegenden Überblick über zentrale Gegenstände und Dimensionen der Gesundheitskommunikation sowie über Formen und Bedeutung der interpersonalen Kommunikation in der Gesundheitsversorgung. Herausforderungen des Informationstransfers zwischen Wissenschaft und Journalismus werden ebenso beleuchtet wie die Darstellung von Medizin und Gesundheit in den Medien. Abschließend geht der Beitrag auf Medienwirkungsprozesse im Kontext von Medizin- und Gesundheitskommunikation ein und verdeutlicht die praktischen Implikationen dieser Befunde.
