Abstract

The human heart is composed of a helical network of myocardial fibers, the structure of which is important considering the mechanical and electrical properties of the cardiac muscle (Rohmer et al. , 2007). In order to model these properties, the configuration of the 3-D fiber structure has to be understood as modifications in this configuration may cohere with the understanding of remodelling after myocardial infarction (Rohmer et al. , 2006).
