Abstract
Memory is a phenomenon broadly studied by social scientists from various disciplines, such as history, political science, psychology, sociology, cultural studies, media studies, anthropology and linguistics, and it is obviously a subject of study of the cognitive sciences, neurosciences, and genetics. Thinkers have been trying to understand the capacity of individuals and societies to conserve and preserve images, experiences and knowledge of things past since ancient times. In addition, remembering things past is vital to the processes of constructing collective consciousness and collective identity.
