Zusammenfassung
Aristoteles’ umfangreichster Text zum Problem der Vermögen ist das neunte Buch der Metaphysik, das gewissermaßen eine Abhandlung über Vermögen darstellt. Fängt man dort an zu lesen, wird man von Aristoteles zunächst allerdings auf einen anderen Text verwiesen: „Daß nun in vielfacher Weise ausgesagt werden das Vermögen und das Vermögendsein (he dynamis kai to dynasthai), ist in anderen [Abhandlungen] (en allois) erklärt worden.“ (IX 1, 1046a4ff) Es ist wahrscheinlich, daß Aristoteles hier auf das dynamis-Kapitel des fünften Buches der Metaphysik, des „Definitionenbuches“, verweist (Met. V 12).
